To start, this is a throwaway .

Married drinking buddy

I've been with my wife for about 10 years now and we have both gone through a lot of changes over the course of that time. I think the biggest change that's happened is that I stopped drinking when I was 25 - I'm 28 now and she is I don't see my self as an alcoholic for several reasons that I won't go into, but drinking wasn't working for me so I stopped.

She has not stopped drinking and continues to drink on a daily basis probably glasses of wine. It hasn't caused her any problems legally or with work. She doesn't get sloppy drunk and she doesn't act like an idiot. I am also concerned about the increased risk of cancer and all the other health risks that come along with that kind of drinking.

I have brought up my concerns with her in the past and she admits that she drinks more than she should but any change is short lived and eventually we're back where we started. I can tell I am growing resentful and I don't like it. I don't know if the answer is to stop drinking entirely or for her to take a break. She hasn't been successful at sticking to a "drinking plan" in the past. Has anyone had a similar experience that can offer any advice?

Thank you in advance for any help! How can. I don't think you can force her to change.

Especially since she's not getting into trouble over it. Unless she decides she wants to stop, for her own reasons, it's never going to happen. Perhaps you will find my experience helpful. My aunt practically my mum drank close to a bottle of wine nightly and fought off cancer once and succumbed to it the second time 'round. The alcohol played a major part in her health and made her into someone she wasn't. Found the internet!
